Pablo is an Argentinean wildlife veterinarian with expertise in disease ecology. He graduated as a veterinarian from Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Argentina in 1999. In 2002 he completed a Masters in Preventive Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis. In 2007 he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Liverpool. There, he joined a group led by Prof. Mike Begon and Prof. Malcolm Bennett that has been in the international vanguard of examining host-pathogen dynamics in natural wildlife populations. Back in his home country in 2008 he summoned scientists and students from different backgrounds to create an interdisciplinary group to study health and disease in Argentine wildlife populations. In 2010 they created the Disease Ecology Laboratory (Laboratorio de Ecología de Enfermedades – LEcEn -) at the Instituto de Ciencias Veterinarias del Litoral (UNL-CONICET), Esperanza, Santa Fe province. They are 20 enthusiastic scientists and post-graduate students working hard to generate local scientific knowledge that contributes to improving public health, animal husbandry and wildlife conservation. For the last 10 years, he has been the wildlife moderator of ISID’s ProMED.
