Prof. Aisha Abubakar (nee Ahmed Umar) [MBBS, MPH Field Epidemiology, FWACP] is a seasoned epidemiologist and Public Health Physician. She is a Professor/Consultant with the Ahmadu Bello University and the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, Northwestern Nigeria. Prof. Aisha Abubakar has a Master’s degree in Public Health in Field Epidemiology from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and a Postgraduate certificate in Health Research from the University of Lancaster, UK. She is also a Fellow of the Faculty of Community Health of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP). She is also a ProMED Anglophone Africa moderator for the International Society of Infectious Diseases since January 2020. She is also a Deputy Editor of the International Journal of Infectious Diseases. She is an alumnus of the Women leaders for the World 2017. Her main interests are Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Infection Prevention and Control, and Public Health Surveillance.
